| FAQ - Q. What are the requirements for a Private Pilot's License?
- A. The Federal Aviation Administration requires a minimum of 40 flight hours to obtain a PPL. The FAA also requires that 20 of those hours must be with an instructor. However, the national average is 65 hours with 35 hours of instruction.
- Q. What is the cost?
- A. The cost is based on flying and instructor times, as well as materials, medical exam, written tests, etc. The average cost at our school is approximately $8,000.
- Q. Is there an age limit?
- A. In order to solo, you must be 16 years old and to hold a license you must be 17.
- Q. How long will it take me to get my license?
- A. It depends on how often you fly. Everyone is different, we recommend 2 - 3 times per week and it should take about four to six months at that rate.
- Q. Why should I learn at Lunken Airport?
- A. There are 2 reasons. First, Lunken has a Control Tower. You will learn to communicate on the radio and get very comfortable talking with not only Lunken but Greater Cincinnati's contollers as well. Secondly, Lunken is a small airport, but it has multiple runways and taxiways. You will get very comfortable using the runways and taxiways. Consequently, when you obtain your license you will not be afraid to fly to an airport with a control tower and more than one runway.
- Q. What is contained in my student pilot kit?
- A. The Student Pilot Kit contains a Flight Bag, Headset, Logbook, Aviation Textbook, Flight Maneuvers Handbook, FAR/AIM Book, Written Test Prep Book, Pilot Operating Handbook, E6B, Plotter, Current Aviation Sectional Charts, and an Airport Facilities Directory.

- Q. Do you rent aircraft?
- A. Yes, all of our aircraft are for rent and the fuel is included.
- Q. When can I train?
- A. We are open seven days per week, all year round. We are here to serve your flight training needs and we fly on your schedule.
